2019 Goals 2-3

Today marks the second day of a winter blizzard. Happy to say we are warm, no power outages yet (knock on wood) and the kids along with my husband have attempted the world record for most food consumed in 24 hours. I mean seriously? It is insane in my house right now. What really stinks is that we are on Christmas vacation and besides the quick trip to the Black Hills we are just stuck home. Not much fun. Maybe a movie this weekend once the weather lightens up. IF it lightens up.

Yesterday I talked a lot about cleaning up the clutter on social media. Today I would like to talk about the little things in our lives that we are maybe not doing.

As I sit back and reflect I have realized I have wasted time. I LOVE television. Especially the "Real Housewives" franchises. My all time favorite Housewives are only found online (Cheshire and Melbourne) and add all of the other Real Housewives--I can waste a whole day, or two or even three watching them. I get wrapped up in old episodes of Dr. Phil. I love the random Pre-Code movie (1910?-1934) that shows up on TCM. And all of the 80's sitcoms that bless my TV schedule. So do I see a problem--ummm...yeah--I think I might be disconnecting a little bit. What about you?  Anything going on that is causing a little disconnect? It is easy to disconnect--I watch about 10 minutes of the news every morning and get depressed. The world is just not very nice at the moment. And when you live where I live it is easy to feel isolated, and disconnected.

So this year I want to change that. My daughter Brittany is a big reader--I feel I never had the time to do that--well according to my TV time I actually do have the time. So I am going to start reading again. The first two books I am reading are "You are a Badass--How to Stop Doubting your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life" By Jen Sincero. The second book I plan to read is "You are a Badass at Making Money Master the Mindset of Wealth" By Jen Sincero. These were Christmas gifts and I can't wait to dive in. If you are a big reader you can take the challenge my Daughter is taking and read 52 books in 52 weeks. The link for that is https://mommymannegren.com/2018/11/16/2019-challenge-free-printable/   Or simply Google "Mommy Mannegren".

I also encourage you to get involved in a community service project of some sort. If you don't have the money to donate there are other things you can do. You can organize a drive, you can volunteer, you can just be present. I go back and forth on what I want to commit to. I feel kids and animals don't ask for what it thrown at them so I tend to favor them. I also realize that the state I live in has a huge homeless issue. So that is something that also tugs at my heart strings. Our winters can be harsh. Regardless of what you choose to do--make sure you do your research and make sure it is something that is truly good for the community and matches what you believe in. You will find giving your time to helping others will be contagious.

Tomorrow I am going to talk a little bit about organizing and working in those projects that have sat by the side into your schedule. This will include learning how to use that planner for more than two months.

Until then..stay warm. Kristi
