Our Sweet Wiley Sue
A FEW THINGS: PART ONE
This is probably the most emotional post I have ever written.
This Monday morning I bumped my fur baby with my car. I quickly loaded her in the car I knew I hurt her leg and I found a puncture wound. After calling all three vets in town (15 miles from my house) and getting no help. By the way--you suck balls local vets--you have been deleted from my phone and I wish you nothing but a future closure because you all suck. I called my actual vet 50 miles away and they had began to gather a team. To drive an injured, bleeding dog 50 miles to get help was one of the most difficult, emotional things I have ever done. Cries of pain coming out of Wiley haunts me in my dreams, I can still hear it. I will never forget it. 50 miles took forever and when we got there a crew met me, I was hugged by a vet tech and I am not sure how long I cried in her arms but I am so thankful she sat with me--I was not in good shape mentally. They rushed Wiley in for an assessment, took x-rays and I waited. She was alive and I had faith in the staff.
According to the x-rays Wiley was in good shape injury wise. I knocked her hip out. The puncture wound (which they are not sure I did vs a fence got her) did not puncture anything. No broken bones, no internal bleeding. She should be good to go. However--her x-rays looked rough in other aspects. We could see masses around her heart, lungs, etc. So the plan was to get her cleaned up, get her pain meds and take a few more x-rays. They told me how to get the blood out of my car and to come back at 4:30. So I did what I was told.
At 4:30 I arrived and the head vet was there and he informed me the puncture wound would not stop bleeding so they put a pressure bandage on it. And looking at her new x-rays she was full of masses all over--her back legs were very arthritic and they decided to keep her overnight. I was glad because I didn't want another road trip in the middle of the night because I didn't do her bandage right. Her masses around her organs and her puncture wound were becoming big concerns.
A few days later...after a bath, her pain medication, and food she laid down to take her afternoon nap and she did not wake back up. Our sweet Wiley Sue passed away.
Until next time--Kristi
