What a Monday 3-29-2021
A FEW THINGS WITH KRISTI JANEEN:
What a Monday!
My day started out like any other day in "Middle of Nowhere" South Dakota. Get the dog walked, get C-bug ready for school, and make a list of morning errands. My car felt different.
I blew a tire on the way to town--luckily I was going slow and was able to pull over on the dirt road to a somewhat level area. Got out of my car--heard the hissing coming out of the tire and called my husband. Who was in Iowa--trucking.
It always amazes me how he "freaks out" when I call with car issues. I don't expect him to rescue me from Iowa--but I expect him to fix my car when he gets home. I called my mom and she headed my way to pick up C-bug to take him to school and I called my good friend and close neighbor (South Dakota close is a neighbor between 5-10 miles) and he headed my way to help get the little donut tire on. I am happy to say that the donut survived about 7 miles of gravel and was starting to go flat when I parked the car in front of the house. Hubby made a phone call and hopefully new tires are ordered soon. Being married to this man for 25 years I never worry about a vehicle--he will pull one out of the trees and get it running if he has to. But until then--I am driving his pickup. It will work.
He called later on to tell me that he lost his exhaust on his truck while driving. We have had terrible winds today and evidently the wind hit right and it is gone. So he has been on the phone today getting everything lined up to get this fixed in the morning. The nice part about being married to a mechanic is that they know what is needed to get something fixed. He doesn't grasp what a talent that is.
So--it has been quite a Monday for the both of us.
We have had such bad winds today that we have fires going on everywhere. Winds up to 80 mph have been clocked in the Rapid City area. I always wonder how these fires start? There was not any lightning. What exactly sparks all of these fires? I am sending good vibes to everyone fighting these fires. It is not a good day for South Dakota.
With the wind, the car, the truck exhaust and spending a little to much time on social media today. I found my heart hurting for what is going on with the country. The transgender discrimination bills, and the voter suppression bills just break my heart. The country, the state of the church, the anger, it just breaks my heart. We are so broken that I am having a hard time seeing the good going on around me.
I ordered my "Free Mom Hugs" shirt. I think that is where I will start--that is--after the second vaccination.
