Time For A Break
A FEW THINGS.
Social Media is a beautiful distraction. I love it, I hate it. I find when I have anxiety I consistently scroll through Facebook. If I am in a bad mood--I troll strangers on Facebook. When I am in a normal mood I tend to be shocked at the thoughts of the people scattered throughout the country and the world.
I rely on Social Media for my jobs. I am an International Exchange Coordinator and I am also involved in the travel industry. Social Media is the cheapest and easiest way to get the word out. I hate saying that but it is true. So I can't just log out of social media. I actually need it. I hate saying that too. However...I am beginning to embrace the idea of old school marketing. I think it will make a comeback. Maybe it isn't about getting as many people as possible to see you verses getting a small amount of great people to see you.
Tomorrow I will be beginning my Social Media Detox. IF I can do this--I plan to be back September 15th. August is filled with concerts, county fairs, and the beginning of school for my youngest son. My oldest son is here right now and he is my muscle and equipment operator and I need to take the time I have left before HE goes back to college to finish the big projects I need him to help me with.
When I say "IF I can do this" it is because I am absolutely addicted to Social Media. So this will be a challenge for me. So please send some good vibes. I am hoping to use the time to look at Social Media in a different way. Learn how to use it in a different, more positive way. I need to learn how to have it in my life but not have it consume my life.
Before I go. I would just like to say thank you to everyone who has read this blog. I have had over 7000 reads. That is a number I never expected to reach. And I thank you so much for that. I love to blog. I love to talk about life in general. And I have learned a little about myself along the way.
I was clearing off my table--why does everything in the free world end up on the dining room table? And I found a little journal and I opened it up--and the title was "Who Am I?" I must have had a moment many moons ago and felt the need to sit down and write about who I was. I wrote it in list form. And although there is no date on it--it still stands today. I think as I get closer to that age 50 milestone in my life I am getting more comfortable in my skin, my mind and my overall beliefs. I suggest everyone just make a list of who you are. Because it really will change how you look at the world and how you look at yourself.
Enjoy--
1. I have a certificate in Fashion Merchandising
2. I have a certificate in Travel and Tourism.
3. I am a bag/purse/Origami Owl Jewelry/LulaRoe clothing/Crazy socks/monthly subscription girl.
4. I am a mom/wife/business partner/business owner
5. I am a loyal friend
6. I love Robin Williams/Peyton Manning/REO Speedwagon/Queen/ Saturday Night Live/Real Housewives/Murder Shows
7. Walking/Kindness are my favorite exercises
8. I am a lover of vintage things/ Pre-Code Movies/ Pokemon Go
9. I love to travel
10. After being with my husband for 25 years--I still get goose bumps when we hug. I adore him.
I omitted my political and religious views from the list because those are not who I AM--they don't define me. They never will.
What would be on your list? We work so hard to have all of this depth. I find it easier to take the simple route. Because that depth changes as we grow. This list is exactly who I am. And you know what? I am proud of it.
Be proud of who you are. Stop letting people define you. Find something positive in each day. It can come down to putting on an awesome pair of socks. Or watching a wonderful Pre-Code Movie. We are all capable of flipping the script that is our lives. And we are worth it.
Until Next Time (September 15th)
Kristi
